Network Miniatures

In 2014, I made a collection of 4 short networked miniatures. The miniatures were "performed" over the network connecting the University of Calgary and the Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing. A Kinect camera tracks the arm movements of each performer (1 performer at each site). Their movements control certain elements of the sound and animation. Their input is visible/audible at both locations. 

The video was taken by Ken Fields in Beijing. Apparently the connection wasn't working properly. (The sounds are out of sync and the movements are much more jagged in Beijing than they were in Calgary). However, the video still demonstrates some of the sounds and imagery. We tried again the following day using two performers in Calgary and the video projected on adjacent walls. The effect was much more powerful and immersive. Hopefully, I will provide some video documentation of a performance in the near future...
